The Graduate School of Frontier Sciences (GSFS) is an independent school for Master and Doctoral students established in 1998 through the cooperation of all existing departments of the University of Tokyo. GSFS consists of three (3) divisions: Biosciences, Environmental Studies, and Transdisciplinary Sciences, and one (1) department of Computational Biology. Currently about 1,500 students study at the GSFS with approximately 15% being composed of international students. Admission procedures vary by department, so please check the department website first.

◆ If you are not a Japanese citizen and have completed your education up to and including a college or university undergraduate level, and live outside of Japan at the time of application, then you may choose one of three application methods available:
1) Admission with scholarship by pre-enrollment application
2) Special selection for applicants with overseas education (without pre-enrollment scholarship)
3) Ordinary examination (without pre-enrollment scholarship)
