【Event】July 10th: 2nd Workshop to Promote Internationalization of the Kashiwanoha Campus Area

カテゴリ:What's New 投稿日:2017/06/30

On Monday, July 10th the University of Tokyo, Graduate School of Frontier Sciences will host a workshop aimed at discussing internationalization of the Kashiwanoha Campus Area. The workshop will be held at KOIL on the 6th floor of the Shop and Office Building inside Lalaport.

Last November, the Graduate School of Frontier Sciences along with the Urban Design Center Kashiwanoha (UDCK), Mitsui Fudosan, the Kashiwa City Office, and the University of Tokyo Kashiwa International Office held our first workshop to discuss internationalization of the Kashiwanoha Area. At this workshop we heard from UDCK, Mitsui Fudosan, and the Kashiwa City Office about their current and planned efforts in the area. We also heard from several students and researchers at the University of Tokyo Kashiwa Campus about difficulties they faced in daily life here in Japan as well as what they like about the area and what they thought could be improved on. The topics discussed were very broad, and mainly focused on infrastructure in the area.

In the second workshop that we are planning for July 10th, we would like to focus more on the Kashiwanoha Campus Area specifically. During the first half of the program, we will hear from Mitsui Fudosan, UDCK, and the Kashiwa City Office about their current efforts in the area as well as what they have been working on since the last workshop. After a short intermission, there will be an open discussion where we have the opportunity to hear from short-term visitors about their first impressions of Kashiwanoha, what they think could be improved, and what direction they would like to see Kashiwanoha move towards in the future.

We welcome anyone who lives or works in the area to join us and give their input about what makes the Kashiwanoha Campus Area easy to live in as an international resident. What was your first impression of the area? And also, if there could be a distinguishing, memorable trait about the Kashiwanoha Campus Area to make it stand out and make international visitors want to return to the area, what do you think that could be? Whether it is something that already exists or something that you would like to see develop from here, we would want to hear your thoughts.
