JICA Innovative Asia Scholarship PROGRAM

1. Scholarship coverage

■ Tuition, Enrollment fee, and Admission fee

■ Monthly stipend (approximately JPY144,000)

■ Round trip air ticket

■ Miscellaneous expense (paid in a lump sum)

 

2. Eligible Applicants

■ Nationality: Bangladesh, Cambodia, India, Indonesia, Laos, Malaysia, Myanmer, Pakistan, the Philippines,

Sri Lanka, Thailand, Vietnam

■ Under 40 years old (as of September 1st of your enrollment year)

■ Bachelor degree (as of September 1st of your enrollment year)

■ Those who study or graduated from the partner schools

■ Must be accepted by GSFS

 

3. Selection procedures

1) Examination at GSFS

Japanese universities will evaluate applicants first. Successful candidates who pass the selection by a Japanese university will be recommended to JICA and JICA will do the final selection.

■ For those who want to start as a regular student at GSFS in September:

Application period: Late November in the previous year of your enrollment

Procedures: Take an Schedule B examination (http://www.k.u-tokyo.ac.jp/exam_e/)

Note: Some departments require applicants to come to Japan to sit for entrance examinations.

■ For those who want to start as a research student at GSFS in October:

Application period: Early April to mid-May of your enrollment year

Procedures:  http://www.k.u-tokyo.ac.jp/exam_e/procedure-e.htm

Note:   Applicants don’t have to come to Japan to sit for examination. In order to proceed to a master or doctoral course research students must sit for entrance examinations and pass them.

2) Recommend to JICA

In June every year the Japanese universities recommend the successful candidates to JICA.

3) Result

JICA will inform the universities of their final selection result in July.

4) Enrollment in GSFS

● Late September for Regular Students

● October 1 for Research Students

4. Others

JICA Innovative Asia scholarship program is five-year program which was started in 2017. Before filing an application to GSFS, please understand the program described in the following website.
