【Notice】Further tightening of border enforcement measures to prevent the spread of novel coronavirus (COVID-19)

Entry restrictions for all nationals from countries and regions where visa restriction measures have been imposed currently until the end of July (suspension of single and multiple entry visas issued by the Japanese embassy or consulate in the categorized country/region including visa exemption granted by the Japanese Government to APEC Business Travel Card (ABTC) issued by the categorized countries and regions) has been extended till the end of August (excluding Japanese nationals).

Note that foreign nationals (including those from the countries and regions where the entry bans do not apply) who will arrive in Japan with a flight via any of those 146 countries or regions which are subject to denial of permission to entry, with a purpose of refueling or transit, will also be denied to enter Japan in principle. This will apply regardless of whether they have entered those countries or regions or not.

Visa restrictions apply to all countries/regions where the Ministry of Foreign Affairs has declared Level 2  on the infectious disease risk chart and some countries/regions that has been declared Level 3.  Refer to site (Jpn only) https://www.anzen.mofa.go.jp/

1.Nationals categorized below are denied permission to enter Japan for the time being, unless there are exceptional circumstances.
(1) Foreign nationals who have stayed in any of the areas listed ( https://www.mofa.go.jp/ca/fna/page4e_001053.html ) within 14 days prior to the application for landing.
(2) Foreign nationals who have Chinese passports issued in Hubei Province or Zhejiang Province of China

2.Those who have not stayed in the categorized countries/regions within the past 14 days (extended till the end of August, but is subject to change.) will undergo tightened quarantine procedure when entering Japan. The details are as follows:
1) At the quarantine station at the airport, you will be asked to fill out a questionnaire, measure body temperature, and check for symptoms.
2) For the next 14 days after the day of entry, you are required to self-isolate at (*1)your own home or accommodation facility secured by yourself and avoid going out unnecessarily and wait.
*1 You are allowed to self-quarantine at your own home on the condition that you can get there without using public transportation (railways, buses, taxis, airplanes (domestic flights, passenger ships, etc.).
Please arrange for the transportation in advance, such as pick-up and drop-off by your family or your company, or by securing a rental car.
